One team - Every stage of care

From diagnosis and treatment to survivorship and supportive care, our integrated team of haematology, oncology and palliative care specialists work together to provide comprehensive care close to home

Our Services

At Toowoomba Haematology & Oncology Clinic, we provide comprehensive care for patients with cancer, blood disorders and complex supportive care needs.

Our integrated team of haematologists, medical oncologists, palliative care clinicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and administrative staff work together to support patients from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

By bringing multiple specialties together under one roof, we are able to provide coordinated care that is tailored to each patient’s individual circumstances while ensuring they remain close to home and their support network.

Clinical Haematology

Our haematologists provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of both cancerous and non-cancerous blood disorders.

We care for patients with conditions including blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as anaemia, bleeding and clotting disorders, abnormal blood counts, myeloproliferative disorders and other complex haematological conditions.

Our team provides both inpatient and outpatient care and works closely with pathology providers, hospital teams and referring practitioners to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.

Medical Oncology

Our medical oncologists provide specialist assessment, treatment planning and ongoing care for patients diagnosed with breast cancer, bowel cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, brain tumours and other solid organ malignancies.

From initial diagnosis and treatment planning through to ongoing management and follow-up care, our oncologists work closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, general practitioners and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, evidence-based treatment.

Treatment options may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies and supportive treatments, depending on each patient’s diagnosis and individual circumstances.

Palliative & Supportive Care

Palliative care is an important part of comprehensive healthcare and focuses on improving quality of life for patients living with serious illness.

Our palliative care team provides specialist assessment and management of symptoms including pain, fatigue, nausea, breathlessness and other treatment-related concerns. We work alongside a patient’s treating specialists to provide additional support for both patients and their families at any stage of illness.

Our focus is on helping patients maintain comfort, independence and quality of life throughout their healthcare journey.

Iron Infusion & Anaemia Services

THOC provides assessment and treatment for patients experiencing iron deficiency, anaemia and related conditions.

Our team offers timely access to iron infusions and specialist review for patients referred by their general practitioner, specialist or other healthcare provider.

As demand for this service grew, we established The Iron Infusion Clinic to improve access and provide dedicated, streamlined care for patients requiring iron infusions and anaemia management across our region. You can learn more about this service here: The Iron Infusion Clinic🔗

Procedural Medicine

Our specialists perform a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as part of the investigation and management of blood disorders and cancer.

Procedures include bone marrow biopsy and other specialist investigations as clinically indicated.

Telehealth

For eligible patients, telehealth appointments may provide a convenient alternative to attending the clinic in person.

Telehealth can help reduce travel requirements for patients living throughout regional Queensland and Northern New South Wales while ensuring ongoing access to specialist care when appropriate.

Working Together For Better Patient Care

At THOC, our specialists work closely with general practitioners, surgeons, radiation oncologists, allied health professionals, hospital teams and community healthcare providers to ensure every patient receives coordinated, multidisciplinary care.
This collaborative approach allows us to support patients from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, while delivering the highest standard of specialist care close to home.
