Dr Melanie Jackson is a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist specialising in the assessment and management of blood disorders in children and adolescents. She provides care across the breadth of paediatric haematology, with particular expertise in immune haematological conditions, vascular anomalies and myeloproliferative disorders.

Dr Jackson completed her specialist training in Queensland before undertaking a two-year fellowship in paediatric haematology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada, one of the world’s leading paediatric hospitals. She subsequently continued to practise at SickKids for several years before returning to Australia, where she worked in Sydney for two years.

In 2025, Dr Jackson returned home to Brisbane, where she also holds a position at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Dr Jackson welcomes referrals for children and adolescents with a broad range of benign and non-malignant haematological conditions, including cytopenias, bleeding and clotting disorders, immune-mediated blood disorders and other abnormalities requiring specialist paediatric haematology assessment. Her particular clinical interests include the medical management of vascular anomalies and paediatric myeloproliferative disorders.

She places a strong emphasis on family-centred care and shared decision-making, working closely with children, their families, referring doctors, paediatricians and other members of the patient’s healthcare team.

Dr Jackson consults exclusively from our Sinnamon Park clinic in Brisbane for face-to-face appointments. She is also available via our secure telehealth service for children and adolescents throughout Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and regional Southern and South West Queensland, where clinically appropriate.

This allows families in regional areas to access specialist paediatric haematology expertise without necessarily needing to travel to Brisbane, while maintaining close collaboration with their local medical and paediatric teams.
